Yes, I followed the plans exactly as far as the crossover goes.
Here is a link to a previous string I posted asking for help with my crossover and wiring...

Re: Pictures of TLAH Build - Making some progress...
I'm not the best person to ask about alternative drivers.
I'm sure Leland, Bill or others here in the forum can make some good suggestions however...

Here is a link to Leland's site where he sells the kit for the TLAH crossover:
http://www.speakerhardware.com/tlah_sla ... ah8ohm.php
The schematic for the crossover is contained in Bill's plans for the cabinet.

That is exactly what I did per Bill's recommendation.

Re: Pictures of TLAH Build - Making some progress...
Somewhere in the forum there is a post that addresses this issue. Bill states that adjusting the total length of the cabinet isn't super critical so you can adjust the over all length to compensate for the extra length you will require for the 3x5's. Just stack 'em up and then add the appropriate ex...

Re: myn's Tuba HT Build Thread
I think your finish is looking very nice.
The approach I took with the Duratex was to spray it from a pressure pot. Very consistent texture and finish is possible with this type of application.
I still say your finish is looking very nice!

Re: Pictures of TLAH Build - Making some progress...
I thought I would add just one more comment here after living with my new TLAH's for about a week or so... Take it very seriously that the vertical zone of disbursement on the tweeters is limited. The horizontal zone of disbursement is great but if your ears aren't in the zone then the highs will di...

Re: Meet the new family
Really nice work! I especially like the way you "branded" the cabinets by routing in the name of the cabinet.
I bet your neighbors got nervous when they saw all the gear stacked up in the driveway!
Great job!

Re: Pictures of TLAH Build - Making some progress...
Thanks Scott. I've got this set up as a stereo rig for music listening only (for now) The sound from these speakers boggles my mind - to think that the individual drivers were so inexpensive ($0.55 per tweeter and $1.50 per mid-bass) totally blows me away. The stereo field projects well back ...

Here are a couple of images of the fixture I made for cutting my tweeter frames down on my table saw. http://i948.photobucket.com/albums/ad322/lgossphotos/TweeterFixture_0005.jpg http://i948.photobucket.com/albums/ad322/lgossphotos/TweeterFixture_0016.jpg I used the panel jig as a platform for holdi...

Re: Pictures of TLAH Build - Making some progress...
The 3X5 template was pretty easy to make and it is a HUGE time saver. The first thing I did was measure the back side of the driver at the level of the gasket so that I could determine the exact length and width of the metal speaker frame. Then I added 1/16 of an inch to that dimension (both length ...

Re: Pictures of TLAH Build - Making some progress...
I went with a 1/8" mono jack and wired it up with two alligator clips on the ends of my leads. Once I got it set up this way the iPod worked great for testing. All 54 drivers sounded off just fine. (I had to get away from trying to use the leftover stereo jacks with attached headphone wire - th...

Re: Pictures of TLAH Build - Making some progress...
Finally completed the front grille with 1 inch standoffs in all four corners. I embedded a small magnet in each standoff and also in the front baffle. If you do this make sure you have the polarity of the magnets aligned before your set them permanently. I drilled the holes for the magnets slightly ...

Re: Pictures of TLAH Build - Making some progress...
Great questions. 1) The bit is a standard router bit with built in pilot so there is no messing around with assembling / disassembling the bit itself. You can take a look at these at Lowe's or HD. 2) After I layout my opening on my workpiece, I simply drill a hole and then use a saber saw to rough o...

Re: Pictures of TLAH Build - Making some progress...more pics
More pictures... I don't have a drill press with more than a 5 inch reach from the supporting post to the center of the chuck so I created this simple guide to use with a spade bit in a hand held drill. http://i948.photobucket.com/albums/ad322/lgossphotos/FamilyRmSpkrs_0148.jpg Here are several shot...
