Re: First Jack15 build
Looking great, dude! You'll be thumping through that thing in no time. Love the tweeters. Are you going with casters or rubber feet? I've got rubber feet on this one. I have been assuming all along that I'll most likely be building a second one for a 2x15 stack and I'll put casters on the bottom on...

Re: First Jack15 build
As I was running a 30hz test tone through it I noticed the wires going to the piezo array were slapping the cab and making a heck of a racket. I have them stapled down at the array and back in the cab near the crossover but in-between those two points it's slappin. Anyone have suggestions on a way t...

Re: First Jack15 build
I put it snug against where the flange and walls meet before I saw this. But it clears the screws and gives a good seal there too.Bill Fitzmaurice wrote: ↑Thu Jul 17, 2025 1:32 pm Since there's a gap along the edges doubling up probably isn't necessary. Placing the edge of the strip at the upper edge of the flange should do it.

Thank you! I assumed that was the case...I don't know why I was second guessing myself.

Re: First Jack15 build
Leland included gasket tape for sealing the back panel. Should it go here?
Or here?

Re: First Jack15 build
I'm using a dual speakon + dual 1/4" jackplate just for maximum flexibility. What gauge wire should I use to make all the parallel connections between the four inputs? Is 18awg heavy enough? Could I get away with 22awg for the parallel connections and the heavier gauge Leland supplied connecti...

Is there a reason for that, Bill?Bill Fitzmaurice wrote: ↑Wed Jul 16, 2025 9:21 pm Note that in the sketchups that show the filters on the bottom that's for pole mounted PA mains. For electric bass mine are on the back. In both cases so are the jacks.

Re: First Jack15 build
...I haven't decided where I want to mount the crossover so that bottom piece of foam isn't attached yet. Where do most people attach it? Inside the cab on the bottom? Or attached to the back panel? You can put it anywhere it fits, but take a look at the Sketchup file if you want a little inspirati...

Re: First Jack15 build
Had a bunch of 22 gauge wire on hand from tinkering around with guitar pedals so I used that for the piezo array.

Re: First Jack15 build
Those are the ones I used. It was definitely too rough for my liking...felt a bit like sandpaper. I'm really happy with this faux leather look. Yep, if you don't go back over it - dry-rolling it very lightly with just the weight of the roller - it will definitely feel like sandpaper. Your finish lo...

Re: First Jack15 build
Gave it one Duratex coat with the foam texture roller, let it dry a couple hours, then gave it a second coat and blotted it with a plastic bag to give it a bit of a faux leather type texture. I wasn't super excited by the roller texture. Attached the corners and handles this morning. Next up is foa...
