Re: Hello. New member looking for advice on club system build.
Oooo, I wanna rush right out there and say 3-DR280 per side, and a raft of T60s (a la Club Therapy) LOL. But, I must hold back until more details are given. Anyway, welcome to the forum! I'm assuming club "therapy" is a probably common name, but you don't mean the one that was in Providen...

Re: David build
It's likely to be the room(s), but remove a variable or two. Unless the LF is coupled, it is likely to lose some content due to cancellation based on distance apart for the cabs. And since chest thump is in that 50-70Hz kick drum region, any dips there could explain what you're experiencing. Here's...

Re: David build
It's not the midranges, since the crossover is at 200Hz. Those deep peaks and valleys are classic boundary effect. The good news is that they're not severe. Using EQ to boost the nulls and reduce the peaks should do the trick. The response you have to 30Hz most speakers, at any price, can only drea...

Re: David build
I just took a few more measurements in my living room. One from where I sit and listen to music and one from where I'm standing and mixing. Similar graphs for both. The two dips in the low-end I see, one around 55 hz and one around 85 hz are what I think I want to fill in. Until I can determine if i...

Re: David build
Also, some friends and I host a listening party every few weeks and we've been using these speakers. We pop-up in different spots, which is nice to be able to hear how they sound in different rooms. Obviously we don't have much acoustic treatment for these popups (although the first one was at a rec...

Re: David build
Jammer, Nice clean build. How do you like the sound? I've spent a lot of time listening to these now and I'm very happy with the sound. Definitely one of the best sounding experiences I've ever had (but that isn't saying much....). They bring a new life and clarify to all of my favorite recordings....

Re: David build
I finally wrapped up fabrication of my Davids and brought them home. I'm blown away at how amazing they sound. I still have to run through some checks (per the instructions), but damn, these are amazing. Soon I'll measure them and post the charts. IMG_9773.JPG Last coat of General Finishes satin cle...

Re: David build
I had a similar feeling about Davids too, but after building these I think I love it.

Re: David build
Nice clean build Jammer. I used dark shellac on mine and it wasn't blotchy. https://billfitzmaurice.info/forum/viewtopic.php?p=258774#p258774 I had dye stain recommended to me for baltic birch but I haven't tried it. https://generalfinishes.com/wood-finishes-retail/water-based-wood-stains-and-dye-s...

Re: David build
Looking really nice! Are you planning on veneering them, or what’s the finish going to be? I'm going to keep them true to the material and use a clear water based finish. It looks like you are using Baltic Birch. Did you know that it would be useful to use a conditioner to help avoid blotching? I'v...

Re: David build
Hello and welcome tot he forum :) Fantastic build! Your attention to detail is inspiring. You have lots of inductors on one board, all aligned in much the same orientation. Look up inductor crosstalk, see if you can't change orientation of some of them. Looking forward to your review as well... Tha...
