Re: Legalize An Audience Gun

About the only gigs we attend anymore are when we attend C&W dances in our Central Texas retirement community. Lots of love for the bands. They're paid well, no gate worries. Crowd is into it. Smiles all around. No one under 65 generally. But, I do agree, people are just impossible. Being an old...

Re: Jack 110 questions

Call me lazy, but when I need to tilt my Jack10, I use a length of 2 x 4 that I spray painted black. I had to stick some no-skid pad thingy on it to keep it from sliding backwards. Fold out handle sounds cool, if it locks in position.

Jack's a movin...

Jack 10L, which absolutely love, going into a box for it's move from Central Texas to the KC area. Small combo is coming home from my buddies house today. I'll limp by with it until move day. I'm really thinking about using the woodshop and laser here in the 'hood, while I still have access, to cut ...

Re: Jack 15 Lite Build

Is there any tip on how to form and fasten the sheaths easier? Just lots of clamps? Haha.
I used a laser engraver to 'score' the smaller ones so they'd bend easier. Worked great.

Re: Jack 110 questions

I left the tweeters off on my J10 Lite. I play P-bass with flats. I'm very happy with it, but in hindsight, I'd put the tweeters in and just EQ as needed.

I'm a noob to all of this, Bruce, but I've read enough to know that your advice is spot on. Great read! Thanks!

To each his own. Of course, the songs that you hear when you're in you're in your teens are more likely to have the effect you describe.

Re: J210 Lite bass guitar cab Review

I made a Jack 110 Lite last year and I'm just in love with it. Very articulate, cuts through well. Plenty loud for my needs. If I ever need more, I'll make a second one. And YES the light weight is to die for.

Re: Old Dog Learns New Trick

Great post, thanks for sharing.

Bass players are the offensive linemen, you really need them, but they're not noticed until they make a mistake. I pretend to be one.

Re: OmniTop 12 build

And very few of us Texans actually put starch in their wranglers......just the Urban Cowboy types that did line dancing in the movies. Ha - I beg to differ. In and around Houston in the late 80s, you saw a LOT of starched Wranglers. And there wasn't any line dancing going on. Yeah - I know - Housto...

Re: Question about rotation of a Jack 10 Lite

I play through mine "vertically" at home for practice just because it's a smaller footprint in a small room.

At my buddies house, it's used "normally".

I don't notice any difference, but this is in two small rooms where dispersion is not an issue.

Re: TLAH sound

Can you elaborate on this, or link a technique, I'm interested in experimenting with different finishes, and know zero about staining. It's generally always a good practice to raise the grain. I do it during the sanding process. Sand to 300 grit, lightly wet the wood (wipe with a damp cloth), then ...

Re: Finally! Omni 12 Tall Boy build

I made my logo on a CNC laser from Anodized aluminum business card blanks. The laser 'burns' off the anodizing, leaving the design. Might be an option, I can share my laser settings, if needed. It has to be set a bit differently than you do for wood.
