Re: Phase plug and throat divider question

I seem to recall a thread with this info on the old forum. Never the less - I can compare the early plans versions...

Phase plug and throat divider question

I was wondering the theory behind "flat" "spherical" and "parabolic cone' phase plugs like in the Omni, Jack and commercial drivers. I know it's about phase and directivity in the midrange, but moreso what the tradeoffs are in each shape, such as would a parabolic cone nessi...

i'd be wary of solvents - being that they can be absorbed through the skin. i use a pumice stone, soap & water to get off the dried stuff. better yet, wear gloves.

Since I never saw anyone post any mention of BB warping after being ripped "flat" when used in reference to plywood is a relative term (as Marko pointed out) ...and well, mine warps too. A full sheet is usually stacked along with other sheets, flat, so that it us held "flat." Wh...

Definitely a slick setup. I use feet and plastic corners on DR, feet/wheels on Tuba. I'll definitely consider the cover/dolly option for any additional cabs!

The one that irks me the most is the case of the Juniperus virginiana which is also very common here. Even people that should know better call it a "Cedar Tree" or "Eastern Red Cedar" when Cedrus isn't found naturally anywhere near the Americas.

Genus Liriodendron ("Tulip tree" - "Tulip Poplar" - "Yellow Poplar") is what is common here, however, it's not related to Genus Populus or true Poplar, which includes Cottonwood, and Aspen. Every year we have a fresh crop of tulip tree growing in gutters, flowerbeds, dr...

Admittedly, my tone was harsher than I intended in my earlier post.

They can be improved upon. I stand behind all my claims, including admiring Linkwitz for his all his work, including the Orions and Plutos. Agree to disagree? :)

I've studied Linkwizt's site extensively. And I've built my own dipoles. I think dipoles do have merit for home audio - but it's just "another way to skin a cat" in a universe full of options of varying costs and benefits. To more specifically critique Linkwitz in achieving his own stated ...

I used about half a gallon for 2 Omni 10's and 2/3 a gallon for 2 Tuba24. I'm thinking rolling isn't as cost effective as spraying in the long run.

I got the Porter Cable BN125A, 18ga brad nailer. Yeah, its tiny. Well made, inexpensive - smaller brads are cheap too. I figure it's only pinning the panels in place while the glue cures anyway...

I have the Porter Cable 7336 (like Bill's) and like it as well. My other sander is a Ridgid R2600 which is a 5" ROS palm sander. I actually get more use with the palm sander since it fits more places, but you could just as easily get a 5" pad for the Porter Cable. Matter of fact, the Porte...

Re: It's pretty thin

I guess that depends on how you apply the Duratex. With a roller, it is pretty thin. It's a nice finish, but doesn't cover much up. I would imagine sprayed-on will hide more. Better off sanding IMHO. MY Thin? The Duratex I use is like Jello Pudding! I sand with 40 to 60 grit on the random orbital a...
