Re: Omni 10.5 Bass Stack STILL kickin'!!!
Harley - I definitely became concerned when Bill released the Jack 10 plans...this happened right after I had finished my 2nd 10.5. The Jack 10's (let alone the Jack 12's) have significant more low end on the SPL charts. I believe it was you, Harley, that made a comparison of the Omni's and Jacks an...

Omni 10.5 Bass Stack STILL kickin'!!!
I had the fortunate and awesome experience of playing an outdoor gig in my town this past Sunday at the park. We had a 16'x16' stage with a tent over it, and a decent PA with two JBL's and a Mackie powered subwoofer. Naturally, I brought my Omni Stack to handle the bass, and boy did it handle! I've ...

Re: Omni 10.5 bass stack
Both, he might as well have a single 12" cab. It's a really directional cab, and he doesn't turn it up much. We always have PA. Haha, I guess I'm lucky that my guitarist uses just that - a single 12" cab. Can't wait to see how 2 of the 10.5's compete with him and our drummer. Wes, what ha...

Smaller in size or smaller in volume?Wes Whitmore wrote:It was just good and even bass, like always...but it looks small compared to the guitarist's 412! My rig is lighter though.

Re: Omni 10 Airhead
I'm talking about the back panel brace that straddles the vent port. It's a square-sided tube that sits over the port. Bill says it's not for tuning the box like a traditional port tube, it's just a way to give the back panel some support without blocking the port. I don't get any back panel vibrat...

Re: Omni 10 Airhead
The Omni 10 is ported when used as a full range cab Right, I was aware of that (and the 10.5 is as well, which is what I have). I just got confused when he said port tube , because I thought I had missed something as the port itself is only 1/2" long (thickness of the plywood)...hardly a tube :D

Re: Omni 10 Airhead
I just received my omni 10 plans and want to try this. Did you paint the inside of the port white? That's the inside of the back panel you see through the port. When I took that picture I hadn't installed the port tube yet (still haven't, actually :-) ). I also hadn't lined the back panel with foam...

Re: Omni 10.5 bass stack
The jack plugs only close up an unused jack. If you have air leaking through the jack, they won't help. On my omni15TB I built a small wood "cigar box" that I installed inside the cab. Wires are sealed where they pass from the jacks through the wall of the box, so there's no worry about s...

Re: Omni 10.5 bass stack
Thanks Leland. However, my problem occurs when the 1/4" plug is already plugged into the jack...I need to somehow seal it from the inside. Will these plugs do the trick here?LelandCrooks wrote: http://www.speakerhardware.com/proddeta ... =mh58125-b

Re: Omni 10.5 bass stack
The cabinet chuffs when the EQ is flat (Ampeg B2-R). I realized that the cabinet dish in the back is leaking pretty badly with a 30Hz test tone through the 1/4" locking jack. I am considering getting rid of that jack and plugging the hole because I also have a Speakon jack in the plate as well....

Re: Omni 10.5 bass stack
That all makes a lot of sense. I noticed that the chuffing wasn't as bad in the beginning (or I guess "bad" isn't the right term; it's not really audible unless you're close to it), but has become more noticeable the more I've used the cabinet. My thought is that since the "bedding&qu...

Re: Omni 10.5 bass stack
That's great to hear, Wes. I'm really, really looking forward to my second 10.5 now! Question: have you noticed any "port chuffing" on the lower notes with both cabs hooked up? I notice some on my single 10.5 when I crank the volume (I have the Deltalite II 2510)...Bill says that the 6dB a...

Re: Omni 10.5 bass stack
Wes, these look fantastic! I love the red carpet. I'm planning on my second Omni 10.5 Extension cab to be built this winter during the long break from college. I currently use just one 10.5 for most gigs, and even that's more than enough most of the time... I noticed you commented on the "livin...

Re: Omni 10.5 for Bass - the cab keeps on giving!
Mark - very true. When we were playing I did notice that the higher strings had slightly more volume than the lower ones, but that's nothing a little EQ can't fix. I just need to sit down and tweak it a bit. Harley - are you referring to the driver not being properly "bed" yet? I have hear...
