Re: Avoiding chip-out when drilling access panels

Drill a pilot hole as small as you can, hit the backside of the hole with a countersink bit, then drill from the top.

Also, I've heard of using bit fat fender washers to clamp in place with the vise grips. Again, a pilot hole is useful here to make sure you don't drill into the fender washer.

Re: XF210 hands-on review and gig report

Hey, Tim. Been hella-busy, lots of gigs which is a good thing. Been helping my bandmates with getting their amps pointed AT them, instead of near them. I still want to get them to try out an XF cab. You have any built and available to test out? Or would you have to build one for me? I still think th...

Any of you guys ever glue your screws in? I've done a project with regular drywall screws, and before drilling the screws in, I dripped glue into the pilot holes, and dipped the screws into the glue. They're hella strong, and only take a few extra seconds of labor.

Some new Neutrik Speakon Combo jacks are now available

Allright. Last summer I modded my brother's custom-ordered Mesa 412 cabinet, to have Speakon connections. Not really for the wattage handling, but for all the safety reasons. Cables won't get yanked out when someone trips on them, not touching the collar of a 1/4" jack and getting zapped, and n...

Re: Vet Fest Success!

Sliiiiiiiiick. Now I get it. First glance, it seemed like he was saying it was "to be used with", kinda like how some places list items you should buy with this. Hmm... actually, this will save quite a lot of time for me, if I order up stuff to replace my existing cabs, and for my planned ...

Re: Vet Fest Success!

Hmph. I really need to study more on the concept of line arrays.

Okay, so your dishes, they kinda look like the Dayton MD132's? I assume you run Speakons simply for the safety factors, right?

Re: Vet Fest Success!

You know, Tim, after reading all this, I can only kick myself for not braving the weather and just heading out after around 1:30pm. Shoulda. Just shoulda. It's really good to see your Duratex shed the rain like a duck's back! Very very cool. Proves that if you plan ahead, your gear CAN be ready for ...
