Re: THT LP -- FINALLY!
I've never heard anything like it; the depth, clarity and output is unreal... I'm using a Behringer nx3000d to push it and wow... I've owned several SVS subs in the past and still have a PC-2000; I think price wise this ends up being the same with the amp but output wise the PC-2000 doesn't come clo...

THT LP -- FINALLY!
I'll start by saying I'm not very good at wood working; this was by far the most challenging thing I've ever built out of wood. It took way more time and curse words than I expected BUT it paid off; this thing is amazing. I built this 34" wide which made de-warping a special event in itse...

Re: Genral Crossover Understanding
That was a great read and now things make a little more sense... Pieces I was clearly missing: Adding additional drivers in parallel creates +3db from surface area increase Adding additional drivers in parallel creates an additional +3db from the load increase on the amplifier effectively giving a +...

Genral Crossover Understanding
Hello All, I'm working on some 4 mid driver SLAs with 16ohm speakers and am trying to understand how crossover calculators work and if they are even reliable. I've read the following in another thread: With respect to the low pass to go from 8 to 4 ohms you halve the coil values and double the cap v...

Re: TLAH Listen Distance
Thanks Bill; I'll carry on and if there's any drastic differences between this one and the second one I'll compare.

Re: TLAH Listen Distance
I figure I'd outline what I've done to see if there are any areas I missed or need to improve. Here's the final product: https://dsc.cloud/8e6702/vtoAY0xqtjGyaXZDp-zCRQpha9Hrmp8WYuwVbPDFJX4-yXJY6FzLiOx1zpxOb6pvV-er5QpQ31tTRXA1qdcgDAnolQLu77vCnw6CPaERgf0SHgZxgK59S31bvRhD.jpg Drivers I've wired the wo...

Re: TLAH Listen Distance
This is on the floor atm about 2 ft from the wall; it's the square design. It will eventually be hung on the wall though in L/C/R fashion. From the graph I would swear there's a crossover on but I've triple checked that it's off. I'm going to hook up a different speaker and make sure the test receiv...

Re: TLAH Listen Distance
I've successfully completed the build of 1 TLAH!
When I run a sweep; there's a complete dive starting at ~120hz. Is this to be expected or have a screwed something up? The db difference from 120hz to 80hz is more than 15db.

Thanks in advance!

Re: TLAH Listen Distance
I agree after 5.2; adding speakers starts to diminish in returns BUT I have a dedicated space and an 11.2 Marantz processor so... I can't help myself. I'll checkout the SLA plans; I still would like them to crossover at the 80hz mark if possible. I was going to purchase the SLA plans anyway to start...

Re: TLAH Listen Distance
Thanks Bill. Maybe I'll use the TLAHs for the L/C/R then and make something smaller for the surrounds. I'm 9 - 12ft back from the screen but I'm going for reference levels at the main sitting position. Would SLAs make better surrounds or do you have any thoughts? I'm also trying to figure out what t...

TLAH Listen Distance
I'm curious what the recommended listening distance is for the TLAH speakers. I'm planning on using them for surrounds and rear surrounds but am concerned listeners may be too close. I've tried to do some line array research online but most things I've found refer to much larger line array systems. ...

Re: TLAH Speaker Selections
At least support is good; they just asked for pics and are sending more... hopefully packaged better. Now I have to create ANOTHER RMA because the next batch made it today... there were 7 speakers just thrown in a box; all are damaged. :wall: https://dsc.cloud/8e6702/PXL_20220210_214326919.jpg https...

Re: TLAH Speaker Selections
Well, some of the speakers came in and the packaging is horrible so 6 are clearly damaged. I'll run tests on the others to make sure they still function as expected :( They do measure 4 11/16 though; I plan on making a template baffle with MDF to see how it will all work. Also, I called about gettin...

Re: TLAH Speaker Selections
That would be amazing Seth! I ordered a boat load of these as well (64) to do all 7 speakers the same around the theater and have some extra. I went with the recommend Goldwood GT-302/S 1/2" Mylar Dome Tweeter Shielded. One option may be to rear mount the drivers if the tweeters are fount mount...

Re: TLAH Speaker Selections
Great, thanks for pointing that out!! As for the mounting; just getting them close is good enough or should I make any adjustments for the TLAH?
Thanks again; I'm always shocked at the responsiveness of this forum!
