Re: Securing Grill

Well I secured at the top and bottom and the grill was still buzzing so I added 2 screws on each side and it appears all quiet. Thanks

Securing Grill

I am finishing things up and only have handles and grill to install. Before finishing I glued in 4 wooden tabs that lay the grill in flat. Wondering if folks screw the grill right to the wood or whether you use some thin foam inbetween to keep grill from vibrating? Also, I see some builds with just ...

Re: Jack 10 LT Fin!

Glad I clicked on this link. I am down to finishing touches on my J12 L and concerned about routing the corners to fit the small chevron. I feel I have to radius the corner so much that I will compromise the integrity of the box. Mind you I havnt matched up the box to the chevron yet, but looking at...

Re: Couple J12L questions on flatpack, assembly and driver breakin.

The capacitor Leland sent does not have any markings to indicate a particular flow s I am assuming it can be installed in either

Re: Couple J12L questions on flatpack, assembly and driver breakin.

Here's Bruce's SLA crossover, which is almost exactly like the plans show (Note to general reader: There's a slight wiring error in this photo, do not use as a circuit wiring reference) https://billfitzmaurice.info/forum/download/file.php?id=15513&t=1 Oh my gosh....that wiring error will haunt ...

Re: Couple J12L questions on flatpack, assembly and driver breakin.

So I am building this cab for bass guitar only and will not be using any high drivers. I have been reading up on building the Low Pass filter and am perplexed at how best to create the joints. I have worked soldering on pc boards and when I look at the plans, it appears to show eyelets at each end o...

Re: Couple J12L questions on flatpack, assembly and driver breakin.

Oh yeah..... just figured out a new way to breaking the driver by running a android tone generator app through my wireless stereo. I am trying to figure out how high to turn up volume to match the output recommendations of 8 to 10 volts? Do I just eyeball it the woofer for 1/4 inch movement? No, go...

Re: Couple J12L questions on flatpack, assembly and driver breakin.

Bill, the attachment screws that Leland sent are machine threads and there is a female end (not a stud) thath pulls into the back side of the spacer to lie flat when torqued all the way down. Naturally, the screw will extend into the baffle, but there are pilot holes the screws go into, and with ma...

Couple J12L questions on flatpack, assembly and driver breakin.

I am into my j12 lite build and working on the woofer spacer. I got the flat pack and assembly bits from speakerhardware.com. I have installed threaded studs into the spacer and then glued the spacer to the baffle. This relies on PL as the only fastener of the woofer and spacer to the baffle. Seems ...

Re: Jack or Simplex for vintage Bass tone

I'm not into vintage sound, because I played it when it wasn't vintage. A 2x12 that couldn't take 50 watts below the A without farting out was what we had to settle for in the 60s-70s. I don't miss that a bit. I've been playing primarily R&B for the last 35 years, I use a Jack 12 Lite most of t...

Jack or Simplex for vintage Bass tone

I just picked up a Traynor 100 watt all tube head and would like to get one cab to do it all. We just started a 3 piece jam band playing blues and rock. I like the old school sound and play a supportive role fingerstyle. No pick or slap & pop. My only axe is a G&L L2000 which gives me any so...
