Thanks Bill. Looking for drivers, PE has only the shielded version of the 4”, i assume this is fine?
Also, since xmax is 1.5mm, do i need a high pass at 80hz or so to protect the 4 inchers? (Thinking sub of course)
Thx

Coax in sla?
Dayton offers a 4” coax speaker. Can this be used for an SLA application?

Re: Simplexx 10 cabinet shape
Interesting, so is there a rule of thumb for off-centering such as the 2/5-3/5 rule often quoted for DMLs?
And do wedge or trapezoid shaped cabs work better to avoid internal resonances?

Simplexx 10 cabinet shape
Pulling from previous post: I asked if the Simplexx 10 cabinet could have a smaller front baffle so long as cabinet volume and port size/shape are maintained. Bill said yes. Follow up…am i losing anything by doing this? I’m sure Bill had good reason for sizing the baffle as he did and offsetting the...

Re: Simplexx 10 as a studio monitor?
Question about the S10 cabinet, if the volume and ports are maintained per plans, can the baffle panel be smaller than in the plans? Thx.

Re: Best for home 2.1 system?
Ah ok. Does that arrangement sound as good as the wood horns with compression driver in the DR, Omni,Jack? I realize they will get plenty loud for home music/home theater, but which has the best sound? Thx

Re: Best for home 2.1 system?
Well then what about sound quality? Does the Simplexx coax setup sound better or worse than the other BFM options with compression drivers? I imagine the woofer cone is not an ideal horn profile.

Re: Best for home 2.1 system?
Grant, the plot for the Simplexx10 with asd driver looks pretty flat. And i expect it will look even better with the selenium D220Ti as Bill suggested in another post. It can play at in-house levels with my small amp and outdoors if I ever want to try that (no plans). I see charts for SLA pro, nothi...

Best for home 2.1 system?
Hello all. I am interested in the simplex 10 or 12 with the eminence coax drivers for home use. Would they be the best choice or would you recommend a DR, Jack or Omni? Not interested in the array type offerings. I’ll be running a sub, either my autotuba or a new sub tbd.
Thx

Re: Auto tuba on legs
Follow up…table tuba is rated performance 10, auto tuba is rated 7. But looking at the posted response charts, the autotuba seems to have the advantage?? Asking because of course i want another sub…its a disease.

Horn question
Hello all.
On the DR/Omni/Jack tops, does the tweeter insert (piezo or CD horn) act as part of the horn for the woofer or is it just “in the way”?
Another basic horn question. It’s what i do.

Re: 1.2 vs 1.8 crossover? pros and cons
Jumping in...i am planning to build an OTop12 (one) to try it out. Sounds like most folks think the 1.2k xover sounds best. I assume that is built with the recommended F151M8? So 2 questions about that driver. Recommended xover is 1.8k, useable range is 1.8k-20k...no worries? Also the response curve...

Re: Otop 8
Ok i am almost on track, now leaning towards an OTop12 with comp driver and woofer. Hey Bill, you didn’t comment on the selenium D220 driver from above. Curve looks comparable to recommended eminence driver to my inexpert eye. Maybe a bit more efficient, so does it need a resistor added to the xover...

Re: Otop 8
Hey Bill since you’re an author anyway, why not write a “how to design a horn speaker” book? I would buy it, read it, and subsequently ask way fewer dumb questions.
