Hi Dave Ok, so here's the rub. Why do all these folks spend so much time and money on programs like smaart to time align all the components of their sound system. It would be impossible to time align a system with the mains on either side of the stage and the subs over in the corner. In order to cor...

In order for 2 drivers to be properly time aligned through crossover, The two drivers must be less than 1/4 wavelength ( crossover freq) apart. Therefore aligning for smooth transition through crossover of Center clustered subs with flown or split tops is not likely. as an alternative, many choose t...

I forgot to ask. Did you use 1" open cell foam to line the interior of your DR200's or just Polyfil? The original plans said to use just polyfil but I believe the latest revision has switched to Open cell foam.

Bill could you comment?

The DR200's do have the low pass filter installed, but they don't use a throat filler, too small of an area to make a difference. The 250's do not have the mods.
This could certainly be a factor in explaining the perceived clarity difference in the DR200 and DR250.

So do most touring acts, though the FOH is generally 100 to 125 feet out and the room at least 5,000 seats. They use a lot more power, of course, to cover the area past the FOH, and they key to the success of line arrays is that most of that power goes over the heads of the first 30 rows. Agreed. Hal

Good gracious, that is about 139 dB at the source! Brutal loud.
This was a Classic Rock "Concert" in a small/medium sized room.

Most "A" level bar bands operate at 100 to 110db at mix position.

Tim And quite frankly, I never see myself using more than 4/side. That's a lot of juice and coverage, Bill rates that at 1,000 people, and we all know his estimates are conservative. I've been so busy I haven't even plugged the DR's in yet to see if they work! Since I will interpret that your answer...

Separate SMAART Measurements on mids and peizo arrays

Hello All I have just finished converting on of my DR200’s to be able to use it as either passive (original design), or active 2-way. In the active 2-way mode, the load for the piezo array is provided by one of these: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=019-020 I have wired i...

Be careful boosting eq frequencies. You may be trying to correct an "un equalizable event" i.e. cancellation due to reflection.
