Re: Exploring high performance ferrite driver options

That's still 300 watts at 4 ohms. That's nearly all of the kappalites power handling. I certainly wouldn't run them completely raw like that but it's interesting to me. You could get creative with the HPF if you were willing to compromise on power handling....

Re: Exploring high performance ferrite driver options

24" wide titan48. I haven't really tied seeing how much I could get out of it before unloading without filter but it seems you can achieve a fairly large part of its output without a high pass filters using either the 4 or 8 ohm version of the PRV 15sw2000.

Re: Exploring high performance ferrite driver options

Ooooh ive come to the realization that both of these drivers could take a pretty serious amount of power without filters before unloading in the 24" titan 🫨 if you used these say in your home or something you could limit early and just leave the high pass off. Hornresp says both versions of the...

Re: Exploring high performance ferrite driver options

Yes I am discovering exactly what you are talking about about. The inductance and qts are lower on the 4 ohm version. I believe the spec sheet listed on the website was copy and pasted on accident from the 8 ohm version as they are identical, and I believe the downloadable spec sheet more. Might be ...

Re: 10x t48 corner loaded v stack

That was my thought too. Might as well spend a little more for the increased sensitivity at the crossover point. Cool thanks Bill glad I could shine some light on the new drivers we have been testing. I still don't think I'll convert any of my pine titans to prvs, but any boxes we build out of birch...

Re: 10x t48 corner loaded v stack

It seems as though lavoce has a lot of drivers that emulate b&c and eminence woofers. There are a couple of them that really stand out to me. They have an absolutely monster ferrite 18 for 329 usd (saf184.03-8 ohms). They sim verrrrry similarly to a b&c driver costing 50$ more. It seems as t...

Re: 10x t48 corner loaded v stack

It's slightly cheaper than the eminence albeit heavier. It is definitely a more robust driver though. The soft parts are weather treated and a bit heavier than the eminence, lending to a stronger cone and surround. I have no doubt these would take more abuse than the eminence drivers at a lower pric...

Re: 10x t48 corner loaded v stack

Also worth mentioning, it was a 2 day party. We booked Ahee and Black Carl! If you're into that kind of bass music. This stack was hitting 25hz within around 3 or 4db all over the room. The front to back spl variance was actually phenomenal and at that sort of spl that was quite an experience. I can...

Re: 10x t48 corner loaded v stack

So I booked all the production staff and gave them my proposed ideas and we all collaborated on making it happen. The decor was entirely designed and built by a good friend of mine. I am so proud it looked and sounded amazing. The 3 watt lasers were a perfect complement for the projection mapping. W...

10x t48 corner loaded v stack

Well, no one asked for it but here it is, I present to you: the stupidest subwoofer array ive ever installed. 10x t48, v plated and corner loaded. Coupled with 2 pairs of lavoce wan123.00 loaded ot12s on FOH all powered by a danley dna20k and an admark k410. We had danley sm60s in the booth and the ...

Re: Exploring high performance ferrite driver options

I just figured since we were talking about the soft parts, I would also talk about the re-coning process a bit more. The eminence kit was purchased from the speaker exchange, it's an aftermarket kit so not quite the same parts, but I have confirmed with others that the first party kits are the same ...

Re: Exploring high performance ferrite driver options

Do you have screws in particular that stand out to you for mounting heavy subwoofers? We mounted the new lavoce drivers in our otops like that and its sturdy. But that's a 12lbs woofer.

Re: Exploring high performance ferrite driver options

I'll have to mess around with the chamber size. I figured it had to do with the qts of the prv being higher and the VAS being lower than the 3015lf. I was skeptical as a qts of 0.55 is a bit out of recommended spec but I was pleasantly surprised. Despite being aimed at the car audio market these are...
