Re: Otop12 integration
This certainly warrants more testing. But I would imagine that if they are not aligned at the source where they are supposed to be coupling optimally for maximum efficiency, you are throwing away output, and coherence. I don't think the otop is exactly missing out on output, however, personally, I a...

Re: Otop12 integration
Yes it was exactly that. On axis about 1 meter from the center of both cabinets with a boom stand. I should have tried measuring this from the floor as well, though getting proper alignment from the source would result in higher efficiency overall. This was easily my favorite deployment of these top...

Photos of the deployment in question. Lol yes we straightened out the crooked stand, I just thought the giraffe was funny

Re: T48 Club Installation
Next time I'm over there I will attempt to find time to go over the kit. I don't spend a whole lot of time there with the lights on these days (generally a good thing in this case LOL).

Otop12 integration
Over the weekend I deployed 2 otop12s per side and I decided to go with 1 cabinet per amplifier/processing channel, to experiment with integration. I stuck a mic in front of the stack and measured them both individually, and messed around with alignment simulations. I came to the conclusion that one...

Lol we had 2 members of the Wu Tang Clan play this last weekend
oh man what a fun project this was and it genuinely keeps on giving.

Re: Endfire v-plates
Though I will say, I have been developing a 15 inch bass reflex sub to be mixed with the titans for either monitoring or supplemental purposes. When designing in hornresp I would export the simulation into rew and try to align with the titans. I found that with the natural rolloff and phase shift of...

Re: Endfire v-plates
Oh boy yeah as much as I would have loved to give the djs something a little more it really just wasn't in the cards. We gave the djs a pair of otops and it sounded very nice up there. They just wanted to feel the bass. While I do understand the need for high level monitoring, I started out as a voc...

Re: Endfire v-plates
The djs were bitching about the complete and utter lack of bass on stage but they don't realize how important this is for venue operations. The venue was very pleased, that was a first for them. Normally engineers don't have a care in the world and just let the sound go everywhere. Directional array...

Endfire v-plates
I had a gig this weekend that required some pretty extreme low frequency directivity so we decided to do something a little bit different. I present to you; the endfire cardioid v plate array 😆 Worked like a dream, with just under 4ms of delay and a polarity inversion. The bass was practically inaud...

Re: FIR correction
Yes that is exactly what is happening! This DSP I have is FIR capable. Meaning you can introduce a set amount of latency, and use that pocket to correct for time discrepancies. You can eq phase and magnitude separately. Normally with IIR when you make any sort of change to the frequency domain it ef...

FIR correction
So recently I've become obsessed with the idea of making presets for my otops. We spent a lot of time working with FIR this year so I wanted to dive into that and see what sort of gains could be had from fancy linear phase processing. I downloaded Rephase and have just been going back and forth betw...

Re: T48 Club Installation
Symetrix has a pretty amusing super module called "the clamp aka DJ tamer" that is a peak limiter with some automatic gain reduction beyond 6db of compression. I find this to be an exceptionally clean and effective limiter. The peak limiter itself is pretty transparent but with the added a...

Re: T48 Club Installation
Thank you for the kind words! Lots of learning as I go 😆I think if you just learn how to learn, it becomes much easier to try adjacent projects. I had never used power sequencers, open architecture DSP, Dante, or heat maps before last year. But the training is available for free online, and with a l...
