How to apply Warnex/Duratex with roll to get pro looks?

I'm into making two Omni10.5's. I'm going to make them from Baltic birch plywood as that's what we mainly have in wood store. I've ordered 2kg Warnex for covering the cabs. How should I apply it with roll to achieve a good looking surface? What kind of a roll, any other tips?

Re: How do I find good piezos vs bad piezos?

Hi Anton,
nice to hear you like the DR. I noticed that Thomann has nice prices, I'll propably place an order for drivers and hardware. I just sent a PM to Sabbelbacke. I hope he gets it, looks like he has not been very active on this board lately.
I'll post pics after I get the dust flying.

How do I find good piezos vs bad piezos?

Hello everybody, it's been a while since I was here. We've been playing with in-ear monitoring so there's been no need for any sort of cabs lately. However I just got a 100W Trace Elliot bass amp and I'm going to build two Omni10.5's as cabs. I've almost decided to use 2015 drivers and now I'm searc...

I had my first gig with O15TB last night. Worked very fine. The sound was clear and I could hear myself very easily. The other band of the night also used my bass gear. I liked the sound of the bass a lot. Very articulate and clear sounding bass. The lows were great, even at moderate volumes we had....

The tuning screws are in line with strings. It's the shine on the brass parts that makes it look otherwise. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/Marko70/DSCN1895.jpg Bridge saddles are from another bridge. Can be found cheaply from eBay. Head clamp is simply set screws holding the strings. Also ve...

Thanks for the comments. It's easy to tune this bass. Just as easy as any headless I've tried. And I really like the looks of my tuners. Yesterday I took the bass to rehearsals and our guitarist (who also makes his guitars himself) was really impressed about the looks of my bass. And the sound was g...

Latest project finished (no BFM inside, sorry)

Sorry but I'm so excited about this that I have to show it to you: After an Omni15TB I wanted to have a break about speaker cabinets. What would be better than a new bass! I've always wanted a headless bass but tuner/bridge has been so expensive that it has made the dream not came true. Finally I (n...

Source for small amounts of Warnex/Aldcroft in Europe

I've been trying to find a source for small amounts (=2-3 kg) of Warnex or Aldcroft that ships to Finland. Warnex sells for companies and smallest amount is 60 kg and Aldcroft ships minimum 25 kg. Any tips?
It seems odd that the full sheet was fine but then warped when you cut it, but perhaps the wood wasn't dry enough when they made the plywood. Fresh cuts then allowed the moisture content to leave more easily and rapidly.
Plywood is not made from dried wood. It's made of gr...

I wouldn't say you can't make an Omni10 with hand saw. If you have a hand plane (and time and patience) it sure is doable. But you must have lot of time and patience. Spruce plywood and saw with fine teething would make it easier.

First gig played. We had PA from the place we played so our gear was only for monitoring ourselves on the stage. Whoa! I needed to play guite a lot louder than in our rehearsal room but that was not a problem at all. I could hear myself fine. 50 tube watts was still more than what was needed. It was...

Tested today at rehearsal. Great! Very warm yet clear sounding with 50 tube watt, about 1/4 pre and 1/3 master this setup was loud enough to mix well together with drums and keyboards. And lows are no way thin. The cab was placed on the floor about one feet from wall and ports are facing to the wall...
