Re: My bar has "upgraded" the house system by an "expert"

Bryce, they are huge. I had a single 24" T48 previously...easy to move and a 24" square footprint. To me, the lower extension was worth the width. And the build was no extra work. That JBL PRX sub sounds like crap. It sounds like it has a huge spike at 50-60Hz but has nothing below that. N...

Re: My bar has "upgraded" the house system by an "expert"

Monomer, I got it covered :) Thanks for the offer. I did it Sunday and got it out of the way. I literally live 1/2 mile down the street so it was no big deal. I am going to open up the cabs and check sealing and possibly find the next use for my rig. I was quite tempted to test dubstep and 55V in my...

Re: My bar has "upgraded" the house system by an "expert"

I have not taken my BFM rig home yet. It has been there for my 3 years there. Yes, I'd love to take my system elsewhere and make money with it on a Fri night perhaps. It just has been less of a burden for me to have my own system with my own settings, rather than come in Sat after the Fri night DJ h...

My bar has "upgraded" the house system by an "expert"

I have been at the same Saturday night venue for 3 years now. I had no choice but to build my own BFM rig and keep it at the bar unless I wanted to play through distorted speakers all night. My 2-DR250s have been mostly for fill near me as both monitor and to fill a void in the dj area. My 2-T48s ha...

setting limits on 2496..a little help to make sure

I have the limiter set to about 55 volts, just under the 60v max for the 3015LF. The red limiter light comes on even with half volume. I assume this is the peaks in the bass? I've been turning the limiter "on" when the voltmeter says more than 60v, then dialing down the threshold to the 55...

Re: Crown XLS 2500 vs RMX 2450 for 2 T48s

I agree! Thank God I leave my cabs at my gig. It was a pain lugging them there in the first place by myself. I just exchanged the 1000 for the 2500. Yeah it cost twice as much (thankful for payment plan), but I'm sick of worrying about overworking the amp. Plus there will be power available if I eve...

Re: XLS 1000 and 2 T48s..headroom?

XLS and XTi are two different amps.....you're both right. I tried to be clear on my amp in my post :) Gregory East wrote: As far as I can see there is no margin in choosing an amp with a large amount of excess over the rated power of the horns. It's only 1100w 4 ohms bridged. So really working the amp hard, possibly at the expense of sound quality? This is what I am trying to find answers to.

XLS 1000 and 2 T48s..headroom?

Sorry if this is a dup. of my last post, but question is more focused around the subject now. I am questioning if I have enough headroom with the new XLS 1000 I just bought. 450W to each 3015LF, and 1100W 4 Ohm bridge for XLS 1000. I am actuallly running at 5 Ohms with the 2 T48s, so that's even les...

Re: Crown XLS 2500 vs RMX 2450 for 2 T48s

I think I read on here somewhere that I would lose some response by adding a second driver to the cab, rather than the single 3015LF in a 36" wide cab. Is this true? I know I would get (6?) dB, but is this at the expense of something? I am thinking of exchanging the XLS 1000 for a larger model ...

Re: Crown XLS 2500 vs RMX 2450 for 2 T48s

yes WOT is wide-open throttle, and Yes I was in bridge mono, that's how I got 83V. I wasn't particularly referring to the WOT knob position though. Moreso the % duty cycle of the amp. Yes 83V is 22% more than needed. That was the tested measurement with 40Hz. With the actual music playing it seems i...

Re: Crown XLS 2500 vs RMX 2450 for 2 T48s

A quick test out of the box, the XLS 1000 peaked out at 83.8 Volts using simply the RCA inputs and my laptop with 40 Hz test tone. Seems like it will be plenty for 2 T48s. They do get pretty high, but with real program material my xls402 can't even keep up with my bp102's, for that, i have to use t...

Re: Crown XLS 2500 vs RMX 2450 for 2 T48s

I guess I was wondering if the 60v is enough for 2 cabs in parallel (5 ohms resultant.) The math gives 720 watts to the pair, or if 1 cab at 10 ohms; 360 watts. Is this the max they can handle?
