Re: Amp(s) for small venue

Yes Bruce, will be operating with an iPad. Yes, very new to putting a system like this together though I have done mixing and hooking up of simple PA systems with powered speakers. I'm a guitar player/singer and have been doing my own recordings performing on live music stages for over 20 years, so ...

Re: Amp(s) for small venue

Hi Bruce.
I'm not planning to use snakes and I am probably over estimating the amount of cable needed. The mixer and amps will be off to the side of the stage. I was under the impression that XLR is what I should use to run from my amps to the speakers.

Re: Amp(s) for small venue

Thanks for all the great advice, guys! I'm open to making my own cables. Looks like I would need a 500' spool to make all the cables I need (9 microphones and 6 speakers for a 30' stage) I see Horizon has DMX, LO-Z5, LO-Z2 and LO-Z1. What do I go with? Any tips on where to buy?

Re: Amp(s) for small venue

I'm ordering mic stands and cables today. It was commented earlier that K&N Stands are good. Does different quality of XLR cables make a difference? I need 15 cables in the 25'-30' range and 8 3' cables, so the cost adds up. I'm looking at Hosa Pros with Rean connectors or Audio-Technica Neutrik...

Re: Amp(s) for small venue

Yep. There are pictures. I think he sold one of the other 2, or it may be that he only had 2 and I saw the one I had already bought. Trying to get the second one now. That will leave me with one more good deal to find ;)

Re: Amp(s) for small venue

Cool! I was waiting to hear your thoughts Bruce. I just picked up the XLS 2500 for $237. Now I just need a couple XLS 1000 or 1500 and I'm set. I won't even have to bridge the subs :)

Re: Amp(s) for small venue

Uh oh. I bid on a NU-6000, not a NU4-6000. Hoping the seller won't be too mad at me that I can't buy that one. Anyway, I'm between getting the NU4-6000 and a NU-3000 new, or getting Crown XLS 1500 and 2 XLS 1000. Price will be about the same with either option. Which do you guys think is the better ...

Re: Amp(s) for small venue

Well, I just had my offer accepted for a brand new iNuke 6000 for $300 shipped. Thought it would be nice to save that extra rack space. I can get a brand new 3000 for $218 shipped. So I guess I should do that to keep them matchy matchy. Unless I should consider the iNuke 1000......Or, I could get an...

Re: Amp(s) for small venue

Thanks for the extra tip on the DBX, Bruce! OK, so I think I will get a QSC GX5 for the subs. Between the Crown XLS1000 and the QSC GX3 for the monitors and tops. From your previous suggestion, I think the GX3 would be a better option as it's closer to the XLS1500, but not bridgeable, which I don't ...
