If eminence is on par with US pricing in SA, stick with what's listed in the plans!
Don't even bother searching for other product.

Australian recommended retail for Eminence, as listed by the Australian importer, is roughly/more than double that in the US. Our dollar is a lower ATM compared to the US. A little while back (I wasn't building more cabs at that time :wall: ) the Aussie dollar was at parity with the US dollar, so it would have been a no brainer to buy then. And that's why we consider 3rd party shipping...

T39's: 4 x 20" KL3010LF , 2 x 28" 3012LF.
WH8: x 6 with melded array wired series/parallel.

I've done quite a bit of third party shipping through MyUS.com but they got a bit expensive.
I don't think the local suppliers here have a sole agency, as Eminence USA are also listed as South African suppliers on their website. Competition is very fierce for business here between the different makes due to recession and the Chinese are having a field day.I think maybe your agents in Oz and the government are a bit greedy.

Just a heads up to Aussie builders.

Unconfirmed, but AV superstore here in Australia is getting quite a number of posts in various other forums about taking the money but not supplying, and/or charging large amounts for delivery.
Or not refunding after offer to do so.

Perhaps best to stay away from them? Your call...

Gday, going to give these a go for a 4x6inch SLAP pair, and 8x8inch TLAP pair, avaiable from VFM Audio in Brisbane, a bit down on power, but are reasonably priced, especially when you buy them all at the same time, ended up costing $36ea as the 8's were on special.
Specs:

https://www.vfmaudio.com.au/13921/FS-Au ... -160-Watt/

https://www.vfmaudio.com.au/19776/FS-Au ... tt-Woofer/

Just waiting to build 1016 arrays when the tweeters turn up, they are a little deeper than the Eminence, and the 6's have a larger frame size, I've had to make the SLA longer and wider plus move the main brace back to fit.

I know backmounting the 8's in the TLA is not the best, but to mount these securely it is, there's no room for a decent fastener coming in from the front face.

I know the all important Xmax spec is vague, but there's really nothing else close to spec available to me locally, and when you're buying 24 drivers, postage does count!

Managed to finish the SLAs, after EQing the 10k craziness they sound delightful. The alloy strip will be changed to bronze anodised soon, the alloy is a touch too shiny. The overall size came to 31.5 x 12'', the main brace moved back and baffle moved forward 0.5'' to have what I felt enough meat in the baffle for the drivers.
I went with four 1016s because I'd built a set with six before (with illegal drivers supplied to me by a friend) and they were too bright, I'm guessing the eminence just have more grunt. And continuously arrayed them so I can't be called lazy!
The sound foam is from Clark Rubber, looks nice hiding in there, easier to clean too! Next time I'll spray can black the interior, before the foam goes in.
The pic shows size difference to a regular SLA.
Starting on the TLA Pros now.

As per the PL in Australia thread.
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=17222

Forum member Chamesy has contacted Budgetgroup regarding PL premium, and they're saying no longer a stock item.
But Chamesy found a new supplier in Oz;
http://www.abcadhesives.com.au/adhesive ... adhesives/

That is all...

Unfortunately PL Premium is not available by the tube AT ALL anymore only by the pallet load to industrial customers through special order, the folks at http://www.abcadhesives.com.au/adhesive never got back to me and I contacted www.henkel.com.au the distributors of Loctite to Australia and New Zealand and this was their reply:

Unfortunately, since the closure of Masters the availability of Loctite PL premium went from readily available to brought in by special order only.

So now it is only brought in by the pallet load for industrial customer. There is no one selling it by the tube.

OUCH! Very Unfortunate...
PEACE

Pretty sure I had goosebumps

Has anyone used these as a GT-1016 substitution?

https://www.wagneronline.com.au/5-horn/ ... 969853/pd/

Also, what other adhesives can we use? Or should we all pool in and pull the trigger on a pallet of PL!?

Hey Keryn,

I used the Daichi 1016's in the melded arrays for my second set of 3 WH8s, and they seem fine. I did notice that the sizing of these is different to the Goldwood 1016's, so you have to adjust cuts accordingly, but the one advantage with these seems to be that you don't end up trimming the screw barrels at all, or, at worst, a tiny little shave.
Wagner online is the retail arm of WES components. Sign up with WES and you'll get a better price as well.

I'm presently building some road cases for lighting, and thought I'd try Bostick's AV515 (basically to see if it might do for building cabs???).
It's polyurethane, and says on the tube it expands slightly while setting.
It does, it bubbles on the squeeze out, and makes your hands black, and cleans up slightly easier than PL with a chisel when cleaning up, and sands away to pretty much unnoticeable in the joints.
You have to work with it pretty quickly I find, so predrill holes and insert screws dry fit, pull screws out, thinish bead and put screws in straight away.
I can't attest to its sealing properties leak wise though.
It's not cheap, but might be worth a try.

Hope you are well and this helps...

G'day Grant,

I'm doing well, I hope you are too mate. Great to know you've tried the Daichi's and were happy enough with them. I'll definitely sign up for an account with WES, and have a squize at the AV515, thank you for the info.
I've a 40 foot shipping container I'm slowly emptying so I can set up some sort of woodworking spot atm.. strangely enough the stuff I'm moving on is mostly sound gear... so I can make more, weird ay!
