DIY truss base plate?

#1 Post by whines »

I picked up some 12" square truss and am wondering if I can DIY base plates to use them as totems. Baltic Birch seems pretty strong, but I feel like I'd need to reinforce the place where the truss couplers screw in. Has anyone tried something like this?

Perhaps I'm over thinking, the pipes are 2" across each, the force of someone walking in to it would be pretty spread out...

If it's going to be around people, DIY will not be the way to go....

Truss bases are not that expensive. Having them made of steel and welded professionally makes for a better and safer situation.
