How many different designs have you built?
Re: How many different designs have you built?
Ok, I won't vote but since Leland chimed in I will say I haven't built any of the Simplexx yet (I do have some monitors to do before the end of the year), David, DR300 or T18. Oh, and the T36. I have talked some customers out of the DR300 but hopefully one day I'll get a chance to build some. Yeah, I daydream about selling an arena system with a bunch of DR300s...

Don't name one of Bill's cabs Goliath. He might have been big and bad, but in the end he was a loser....
Now that I think of it, something like Community's Leviathon II would be an interesting build!

SWR has had a cab called Goliath since the 80's...
Built:
DR 250: x 2 melded array, 2x CD horn, March 2012 plans.
T39's: 4 x 20" KL3010LF , 2 x 28" 3012LF.
WH8: x 6 with melded array wired series/parallel.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...

Whoops, sorry, missed the request to not have auth builders in the poll.

Re: How many different designs have you built?
I just requested that so the data only reflected builds for personal circumstances. I would expect all the established builders to be in the high numbers.LelandCrooks wrote:Whoops, sorry, missed the request to not have auth builders in the poll.
By all means re-score for the number of designs built for yourself.

Re: How many different designs have you built?
I haven't built anything yet but I do have the CD and the majority of the parts collected to build my basement arena system starting from scratch. 4 - DR300's & 4 - 24" T48. I do hope that the neighbors won't mind.Rick Lee wrote:Yeah, I daydream about selling an arena system with a bunch of DR300s...
I plan on building quite a few other designs down the road. They will make great Christmas presents for family members. The plans on CD are soooooo nice. I can follow along with others builds and see exactly what they are doing by looking at the sketchup files.

Re: How many different designs have you built?
I went on a BF speaker building bender starting in 2005 for about 5 years. Strictly for electric bass back line. Some of it was for experimental purposes. I measured the frequency response of all the boxes I built.
First cab in 2005, O15 with mid, no tweeter
DR280 no tweeters
DR250 with melded array, experimented with different tunings
DR200 (never finished it)
Wedgehorn 10 with 6 element melded array, 50 Hz tuning
O15TB sub
OT12 with melded array. All my melded arrays were built by Leland.
O15TB (sub) box with two 3012LF's. My attempt at making a light weight version of the O15TB by halfing the box size, ending up with two smaller boxes, instead of one box.
Two O12TB subs (that I biamp with the DR250)
Two Jack Lite 15 flat packs from Leland that I haven't started.
------------
Got rid of everything but kept the following:
DR250 (that I biamp with a diy FearFul 15 sub). My favorite for sound quality, This is what I use 90% of the time.
When I need more bass I use the two O12TB subs instead of the FF15. I avoid the use of these O12TB's because frequency response drops like at rock below 50 Hz.
Still have my O15 sub / OT12 combo which I haven't used in a very long time. New drivers are arriving and will start using them again.

Re: How many different designs have you built?
2X W8 & 2X W10 so far, gonna start on 2X Titan 39 and 2X dr 250 soon. Then onto 2 more titan 39 and 2 more dr 250 and 2 more W8. I bought the cd first thing...seemed a no brainer then and glad I did. Probably gonna do something for a floor standing living room system with sub and some others for basement/shop sound yet to be determined. Also looking at studio reference speaker designs (book shelf like near field monitors) My first priority is the pa system though.

Re: How many different designs have you built?
Co-built a set of Wedgehorn 6s that we are using for vocals at our church. They sound awesome, best I have ever heard my vocals on stage. I am mid process of building a 2x6 set of SLA Pros and a Tuba 24x24x24. Looking forward to many more builds...

Re: How many different designs have you built?
Sofar only built a TTLS. Gonna be building more though. Not sure if it'll be two SLAs or TLAHs, curved SLA, auto tuba, probably another TTLS and sooner later DR200s to replace the front channels.

Re: How many different designs have you built?
Otop12, T39, W6, W8, Jack12 ( my friend bought the Jack plans and I built one for his bass rig) That's 5.
I also bought the plans for the DR250 but built the Omni12 instead. Much easier and still plenty of sound.

Me too, into the 10+ club. Don't know if that's something to celebrate or get concerned about.Bruce Weldy wrote:Wow....had totally forgotten about this....
