Extension cords- the arteries of every sound system
Today I went to menards and got 12/3 50 foot extension cord wire, black. It didn't have ends on it, a plus for me. I made 2 25 ft cords and put on ends. Before this I had orange garden cords. I ended up paying 60$ for the four ends and cord. Buy once and actually cheer for once! Quality cord, real rubber coating, and bends easy. It has like a nylon weaved skin between the rubbers. I puposely picked socket ends that clamp to the casing of the cord, so the leads don't rip out. After my first wedding this weekend I'm gonna buy another 50 ft of this stuff. Being 12 awg makes me feel my systems got low cholesterol.

Maybe a little more money, but we have been using this stuff: http://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/118/809/=h2zukrVery easy to work with and is very flexible.

That's really expensive! The cord itself was 48$, so it is a little less than a dollar a foot. Im not sure of the quality of the stuff of that link, but mines at least copper.

I recently did the same thing. It just looks so much more pro to not have any orange cords on stage.

The Carol brand power cable that PE sells is very good stuff. Expensive in comparison to HD or Menards for sure, but tough as nails. At my last place of work we used Carol, and it was not uncommon for someone to accidentally run over the cables with an excavator or other heavy equipment on occasion. That, and they were usually coated in sand and hydraulic fluid at the time.

+1 Copper may be copper...but the quality of rubbers varies greatly. --Stan Graves
