Started my TT build today =)
I am very excited as I was finally able to get my build going. I got all my panels cut today and I am now marking the first side. The instructions read: The lines for panels 1-4 are where their inside faces joint the side. They also outline the driver access hole. Cut the hole, clamping or screwing a guideboard to the side the correct distance from the cut line. The wording that confuses me is "Inside faces joint the side" So does that mean the 4 lines I drew on my side for the access hole BEFORE drawing the secondary lines for the panel is the cut out? Just as it shows the side in the plans without the secondary lines drawn.
Then by the sounds of it and the looks of it the panel side changes from the way you started and the secondary lines go to the other side of the lines shown in the plans.
The reason I ask is, as I was drawing my secondary lines the measurements don't seem to match the panel sizing in the plans. They seem just a bit long for some reason.
Dear god I hope that all makes sense. I am terrible at wording and am better when shown. Thanks for any and all help =) Phil

If in doubt I would check against the sketch up models. But in most of the plans, the panels are given in longer dimension to give it the required angle.

+1. You can 'hide' any or all of the panels to make it perfectly clear how they install, and take confirmation measurements on the model as well. Inside faces face the inside of the cabinet.

Re: Started my TT build today =)
Im looking at the sketch up but I am still confused. I draw everything out and its all fine until I get to panel 9 and 10. Does panel 9 go all the way out to the edge of the cab or stop short and butt 10 at the side with 10 going past the edge of 9 a bit? The reason I ask is because if I come up 14 1/2 inches from the bottom to mark the end point of where 9 would go panel 10 has no possible way of being 16" long as per the instructions. I know you have to account for dead reckoning. Why oh why do I have such a hard time with reading comprehension. I am getting very frustrated and I really haven't even started my build. I am sorry but it really seems like something just isn't adding up. I have looked at other peoples build pics and see now that 9 butts 10. 10 on mine could be no more than 15 3/8 long. That is 5/8 of a difference. On the sketch up using the ruler it even shows it being like 15 3/8 to 15 1/2. Why do the plans show 16"? The only way it could work would be if the inside face of 9 butted the side. Then it would be close.

It butts up against it. Keep clicking on this image to make it huge enough to see.

Re: Started my TT build today =)
Thanks Radian. I am looking at your build and panel 10 was supposed to go to the edge and be butted by 11. You didnt do it that way. I know it prob doesnt matter but I am trying to follow exactly what Bill has written. Can you see how long panel 10 would be if it was ran from the edge to panel 9? What was your measurement do you recall? OK I need some "Voice of Reason". Am I making to big a deal out of this? Should I just shut my pie hole and build the dang thing? If it is 15 3/8 that is just what it is? It just seems the plans should be more specific for over thinkers like me =P

As there is no such thing as plywood that truly measures a half-inch thick the actual finished sizes of all parts are figured by dead reckoning. Cut them to finished length as you install them to be sure of the exact size required, using the panel trim length diagrams only as guides. Table Tuba plans, page 6.

Thanks Bill. I kinda felt I was blowing things out of proportion but all the other measurements were very close.

Re: Started my TT build today =)
Got my access hole cut and my first 2 panels set. PL is really nice to work with. I work in the glass industry and use allot of adhesives and PL isn't as bad as I was expecting. I got great splooge on my first 2 panels and feel very comfortable that I wont have an air leak (cross's fingers). I hope my speaker gets here tommorow so I can get that panel ready and put in place. Now that I am past myself creating my own problems this is becoming fun. I really need to finish my amp box.
Thanks for putting up with my neurosis =P

Re: Started my TT build today =)
Making some headway. I FINALLY got my panel 3 done. Tonight I set my panels 3-6. The first braces pretty much sucked to do. I am conquering my problem with the measurements being close and trusting that things are going along fine. This is truly hard for me it is really sad LOL. I'l be posting some pics tomorrow after I set the next cpl panels.
