Howdy all,
Just about ready to begin a THT build (Sub/ Amp/ Hardware arrived yesterday),
but have yet to decide how wide to go.

On this current setup, I have about 37" between the edge of my screen, and the corner,
and about 46" in the perpendicular direction from the corner to the couch.

If I build the full 36" wide THT, that gives me about an inch of wiggle room
between the screen and the corner in one direction, and 10" or so in the other ( I can move
the couch back to get 18" if necessary).

Question
1. Documentation says having the mouth "Against" one wall, 18" from the other will probably give the best results, but how close is "Against"?

Keep it away from the wall enough so not to rub on the flooring trim or 1/4 round, whatever type you have in the room.

Thanks Jason! Honestly I thought that would be way to close to the wall, but cool!

Also, I realized that with the placement of the mouth against the wall and 18" from the corner, the sub would have to be placed in the lengthwise 36" direction
anyways between the wall and the screen; So I may as well go 36" wide then; get all that response...

Part of me wanted to keep it smaller for when I finish my basement and won't have as much room width to play with, but the wood cost is pretty minimal at
one sub; may as well build it big now for the space, and build small later if it comes down to it.

Getting the wood and doing all the cuts tonight, wooo!

Yeah, you don't want it right up against the wall as it will likely rattle but as close as you can is fine. Like it says in the instructions, 18 - 24" from your boundary and its ready to go.

Good luck with the build.
