Here's a video from my son's metering app (A weighted and calibrated to a certified meter) from an event on 4/29/17.
4 3015 loaded T48s in a row.
4 Delta Pro loaded OT12s.
Big Room.
The source track was the intro of Asia's "Countdown to Zero" Not a lot of high end in it. But I will get a more recent copy of "Deep Note" and build up my own test track.

Re: T48s and OT12s
Thanks, Chris. I corrected it in the post.
Keep in mind, I'm running the subs on a QSC RMX 1450, limited to 40v, and the mains on a QSC RMX 2450. When I get some time to swap the amps and reset the limiter we'll have another go at it!

109 dBA is "your ears are going to ring in under an hour" loud!

A few weeks back, I was hitting 110 at FOH....with no guitars in the mix. I was just trying to get the other instruments somewhere close to them. Oh, and I had my earplugs in.

A weighting is NFG for other than industrial applications.

Recorded music usually has a much higher average then live but them guitars play right where your ears are most sensitive so I guess its a wash.Bruce Weldy wrote:CoronaOperator wrote:109 dBA is "your ears are going to ring in under an hour" loud!

Re: T48s and OT12s
All good. Given the curve of the A weighted measurement, I think the system performed admirably. It was a bigger than average room for the type of event and I wanted to see what they'd do opened up a little. I don't run that hot during the event anyway. Just wanted to have some giggles...
I have to see if his app will do C or Z.
Another personal vote of confidence for the OT12s and T48s.

Re: T48s and OT12s
The built in mic on his phone won't do low frequencies very well, for that he will need one of these and the audiotools app to do C, Z doesn't really exist outside really expensive lab gear.David Raehn wrote: I have to see if his app will do C or Z.
The above setup is as good as any other hobbyist measurement system although the resolution for the lower frequencies isn't the greatest. It's good to 127 dB. Louder than that you really want something like the galaxy meters.
I'd say, 109 on the A scale is as loud as you'd ever want to subject your crowd to and even that is pushing it. When we do EDM events we hit ~138 dBC but are still lower than 109 on the A scale. Loud bass is fun, its the mids and highs that kill your ears.David Raehn wrote: Given the curve of the A weighted measurement, I think the system performed admirably.
