Started a new build last weekend: a pair of 36" wide T48, 3015LF, baltic birch, kit from speakerhardware.com. Spent the first day just breaking down the 5x5 sheets into panels. So far it looks like I might use just a bit more than 4 sheets per cab (8+ total). The second day I spent preparing both tops and baffles, but only got them installed on one cab before a big storm blew in and ended work for the day. (I don't have a "shop" and normally build outside). I quickly decided that moving these beasts inside and out each time wasn't going to work, so I made some room in the garage for assembly. I also decided to go ahead and finish construction on one cab before assembly of the second, just because of available room to work. After the second sides are on, I'll finish them as a pair.

Construction note: I have a small table saw, so to cut all the panels, I stacked and screwed together 3 panels and then used a circular saw and guide to rip the 35" width. I had a new blade and worked slowly, and it worked like a charm. Repeat for second cab.

After work yesterday I was able to get panels three and four installed before shewhomustbeobeyed required my presence. Having the reducers made it fairly straightforward to get everything fit correctly. I did learn that I measured one point incorrectly when I laid out the lines on side one. Fortunately, I was able to get that corrected before any glue was involved.

Installed panel 5 and the braces last night. I cut the braces for the second cab while I was at it. Used the panel jig to cut braces and it was fast and accurate. Installing the braces was not as easy...

Sunday Morning I started on the second cab and made great progress. Won't be able to work on them today, but hope to get a couple hours in on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. The second cab is going together much faster, thanks in part to having all the braces already cut, but mostly due to the learning curve.

The pictures don't really do justice to the size of a 36" T48... These are really big boxes. I already own a pair of 24" wide ones, so I knew what I was getting into. For someone who is unsure if they have enough pack space, please build a cardboard mockup. I'm not sure if I could lift one of these by myself if I wanted to. 4 sheets of 5x5 BB per cab was perfect, but only because I didn't have to re-cut any panels.

Looks great man. I built some 24" wide ones and thought they were big, can't imagine a 36" wide!
