To be fair I doubt that PE referred to those as crossover caps. If you go to the PE site and search Speaker Components you'll find a category for crossover capacitors, http://www.parts-express.com/cat/crosso ... citors/292 , and there you'll find non-polarized electrolytics.

I'l have Duratex from Leland today and should have new crossover parts this week and can get this build done before the weekend. I'll be using a Behringer Inuke 3000DSP to drive it.

Any thoughts on what voltage I should limit at for this build? The woofer is the Eminence 3015LF.

It's safe with 50 volts and a 35Hz highpass.

I'm sure Bill could give you a top number, but I'd set it at 35-40...... I doubt you'll ever get past 25 before everyone says to turn it down since most folks will be withing 50 feet of it.

edit.....obviously, Bill hit the button before I did...

Thanks for the info on the high pass and voltage.

If I build another one of these what are the rules on placement? How close can they be or how far apart should they be given they are fullrange speakers?

Honestly, your usage of the speakers where people are milling around, talking, and the music is background - I wouldn't worry about it. Put 'em wherever you want.

If it was a concert with a live band or even a dance floor situation, then placement is more of an issue - but, I kind'a doubt that you are dealing with a "critical listening" crowd.....anyway, once they walk a few feet, it will change.

That said, either put 'em next to each other in a crossfire configuration to prevent comb-filtering or spread 'em as wide as you can to lessen the power alleys on the low end.

But, you'll probably find that one is going to be sufficient for the crowd size and setting.

Thanks Bruce - I'm definitely holding off on the decision until I hear this first one. Might haul it out to the Horse Ranch I cook at occasionally and see how it does in the open or up against one of the barns.
My son is a former DJ who is showing interest in my current project so I might be opening up a whole new can of worms soon - let's just say I've purchased T39 and DR250 plans :hyper:

Here's the current progress:
20170329_225019_001.jpg
Two coats of Duratex applied and crossovers built - will mount them in cabinet tomorrow. Plan is to fire this bad boy up by Saturday.

Trying to decide what to do about a grille. Probably want something to keep beer bottles out and the ranch I cook at usually has spells of strong wind with blowing dirt/sand so I'm thinking expanded metal grille covered with speaker cloth.

Thoughts?

Just about there!

Crossovers and drivers installed:

I fired it up tonight and wow! :loler: Managed to annoy the wife pretty good
I just need to figure out the grille situation and dial in the EQ. It definitely seems brighter in the midrange and higher.
I did notice that the midrange driver is slightly offset when mounted on the horn and I'm concerned about the cone rubbing on the phase plug extension. I'll see if I can correct that this weekend.

Thanks Bill for the excellent plans and sketchup models!

One more from the front:

My 20 year old son came over and listened to it and is excited for me to build the T39s and DR250s. I really had no plans to take things any further but what can I say.....? This is too much fun :hyper:
