OmniTop 12 (x4) and Titan 39 (x2) build

#1 Post by shawn_g »

My Dad and I started a new build this weekend for our church. See this thread for details: http://billfitzmaurice.info/forum/viewt ... 28&t=17150

Here's what we'll end up with when we're done:

(4) OmniTop 12 - 3012HO loaded - melded arrays
(2) Titan 39 - Lab 12 loaded - 28" wide

I ordered the "Deluxe" kits from Leland (http://speakerhardware.com) for both the OmniTop and Titan and received everything on Thursday. I cheated and had Leland make the melded arrays , which look great by the way! When Leland says that the kits include everything except what's mentioned on the product page, he's not kidding. He even threw in a set of BF and Speakerhardware badges. Here's part of my order:

Starting with the OmniTops, we decided to pre-cut all of the panels first. I know that everyone says to build as you go, but I think we'll be fine. However, we'll probably build the Titans as we go since the angles and braces get tricky.

Some of our cut parts:

Forgot to take any assembly pictures up to this point:

That's all we got done this weekend, but I'm sure we'll be working on it more during the week.

I still need to order some metal grills for the front. I was thinking about ordering from the speakerparts! guy on ebay or "Reliable Hardware". Any other suggestions? The stuff at Lowes and Menards is a little too "industrial" for my liking.

You can rough precut the titans. Otops are a pretty easy precut.

Have fun!

Thanks everyone. We had a few hours to work tonight and got a little more done on OTop #1. I'll post some pictures tomorrow.

Boostfab: I've got two gallons of duratex to paint all of the cabs with. Hoping it's enough for everything.

What are you going to do with the extra gallon?

That stuff does a long way.

6 - T39 3012LF
4 - OT12 2512
1 - T24
1 - SLA Pro
2 - XF210

That's good to know. I was estimating when I ordered and didn't want to come up short. I may end up building some wedgehorns in the future, so I'm sure it will get used up eventually.

Mine has plenty of imperfections, the small pictures hide them well.

2 T39s, 4 OT12s, 3 WH10s, light box, and mixer case. So far 1 full gallon and about an inch and a half out of the second one.

Can someone comment on whether this mattress topper will be adequate for the dampening?

Image

It's the only style they had at Walmart and I haven't opened the package yet in case I need to return it.

It's about 1.25" at the highest point and only .5" at the lowest. The plans say between 1" and 2", but I'm not sure if that means a mimimum of 1" for the low part or a minimum of 1" for the high part. :?

if you use the spray adhesive, spray on both surfaces..the wood and the foam, and let it sit for a bit before applying the foam onto the wood.

We'll probably end up using staples, but thanks for the tip.
