Crossover woes aside, that still doesn't explain the lack of volume which sounds like a polarity/phase issue to me. Take a 1.5 volt battery and hook it up to the speaker terminals. All the woofers should move the same direction, if not then correct the wiring on the offending woofers.

+1. Even one driver that's wired with reverse polarity will mess up the works. And remember these are dedicated midbass boxes, they need subs below 100Hz.

Well I believe I have it all sorted out now. The SLA updated plans couldn't have come a second sooner. I used the sketchup file to rewire everything. Now it sounds great! Time to put this one in its box and get the other finished.

I thought after reading the plans over and over, I had the crossovers figured out. Guess that one slip-up caused a majority of my issues.

Finally got these done. It was a long hard road. Spent 2x on wood because of miscalculations. Forgot I was using larger drivers and didn't compensate. Had an expensive bonfire last night.

I know I've been skimping on the pics, so here are all the important shots.


I took the resistor and blue cap out of the chain (as the new plans didn't have them), but it's still hot glued to the board.




The rat's nest. Took about 3hrs to wire everything there. X-overs hot glued to the magnets. So convenient to have it all on one panel. (you can see another separated tweet in the background. happened when screwing the tweet to the baffle. a thin coat of epoxy, test, now it's working again.)

Broke these in at last night's BBQ and they were perfect! So glad I sold my boat anchor 15" cabs to fund these. The empty weight of the box is 8.5 lbs and loaded is 21 lbs. (14lbs less than my old tops). Sound was more clean and detailed. Everyone was impressed how such a small box made such clean, loud noise (a few didn't know i had the t24 going ). They only have flat latex paint on them till I order some Duratex. Pretty sure I wont be able to coat the baffles now . I might make some magnetic grills if it contrasts too much. I wanted these to be stealth, but like the menacing look of all those speakers. I'll be putting feet and corners on soon.

I might put some pole mounts on them. Anyone else done this to their "HT" SLA's?
