A person that i bought 3 dr280s from which are professional audio speakers had them in his home as a surround sound haha im sure 1 of these is overkill enough. I would say do it.

Will it work? Sure. Will it sound better than ...? Probably not. Omni 15 was designed as a 3-way PA cabinet. PA speakers were never intended to be used in a home environment.

TBH, a pair of TLAH, or a pair of SLA, and a Table Tuba are the go-to for home audio and HT.

Is there a fidelity issue?
I used to own a pare of JBL 4435 just trying to get something that comparable.
I wish I never sold them :(

Fidelity is a personal and highly subjective taste. My "Hi-Fi" is probably not the same as yours. But, scientifically speaking, there are issues. The "subwoofer" part of the sound, <100Hz, should be coming from a cabinet designed specifically to work in that band pass, such as the T18, TT or THT, and boundary loaded, to the floor, a wall or a corner. The >100Hz should be coming from a source that is designed for that purpose. Trying to get all of it from one box means you must compromise one or both band passes.

Thank you Bill. I have bought your tht plans. I just keep second guessing myself on what I want to do. I also bought your otop 12 plans. Would the otops work in a home envroment what tweeter option would be best?

Hi, and welcome to the forum!

All the speaker cabs will work, however, all will need to be EQ'd more than what may be the norm in a home enviroment. A DSP unt would be very suitable for this.
As was already mentioned, the TLAH or SLA are the best choices.

Do you have a need to build PA style cabs for other than HT?
If so, plenty of people repurpose their PA cabs and use them at home.

If you're only building for HT though, forum member mktheatre has had some insane HT setups, including DR200's, DR250's and so on, but has recently built TLAH's and they have been the hands down winners...

Built:
2 x DR 250 (melded array) with March 2012 plans.
4 x 20" BP102 T39's, 2 x 28" 3012lf loaded underway.
3 x WH8 with melded array.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...
