My wife wants me to build a Backyard Theater to attract our kids friends. We already have the projector and 144" screen. Now I need to provide sound.

Simple easy setup and tear down are very important (we will put all of this stuff away after every showing). Budget is also an issue. I plan on starting with a stereo setup and want to move to 2.1 and eventually 3.1 sound. This will be in the backyard and could be for a crowd of 50+. I want it to be an enjoyable experience for our guests but it also needs to be acceptable to the neighbors. The good news is that we live on a 5 acre lot and so do all of the neighbors so we aren't packed in tight.

So what suggestions are there? SLA's, SLA Pros, something else? I'm at a loss of what to pick.

Do you want this system to be strictly for outdoors, or would you use it in your living room as well?

Either SLA or TLAH Pro, Table Tuba or THT subs. Put doors on the mains so that you can leave them in place. Put the subs on legs, the mouths facing down, with screen over the mouths and they can be left in place.

Of course I want the best of both worlds. We are trying to finish out the basement and it would be great to have one system to do both but for now I'm just planning on a backyard theater.

Bill

I hadn't really thought about leaving it in place. We will be taking down the screen and projector after each showing. I'll have to think through wiring and what it would all look like.

Thank you both for you replies.

Bill,

I've been reading a lot on the forum just to see what I can find out. Can you clarify your comment? Did you mean the Standard SLA or the SLA pro?

Pro. The home version would be stressed with the area you want to cover.

That is what I thought you meant. Thank you for the clarification. I just wanted to make sure.
