All in one cherry; center and sub channel

#1 Post by Scott Brochu »

I recently just made a combination center channel, TTLP and av equipment entertainment center all in one.
It is made out of cherry with plywood interior wall and back.
Believe it or not my wife likes it without the center channel cover. I like the sleek look with the black nylon fabric stretched.
The nylon is held on my a 1/4"OD plastic hose in a 1/2" deep x 1/4" groove in the door frame. (basically instead of the floating raised panel I put the nylon).
I also mounted the 100watt plate amp in the side above the TTLP sub mouth which is also covered in nylon.
It has a small PC fan in the back sucking out the heat of the XBox one, tuner and cable box.
dimensions; 62"x20"x39.5"tall, sunken false floor for the sub to allow maximum space above.

Thank you Drey.
Bill, the figures do not dance because of the rubber feet that tucked between the sub and cabinet.
The bottom is nothing but a grid work of pine 2"x3/4". I new nobody was going to be sliding out the sub but me so no need to cover the whole bottom with ply. Same goes for the top shelf holding center channel.
I don't know why but this sub at 17" internal wide sounds lower than the TT I just took out.
I like having the amp right on the side so I can make minute adjustments.
Gain is at half and the LP is at 90.

Now, I got to make another..... a little bit bigger to house the Left and Right channels. :loler:

I would post on a gaming forum!

The number of XBox1/360/PS3/PS4 gamers who would love something like that is going to be quite high! I have to concur with the others, it's stunning.

I ran a gaming rig of a 100" projector screen, two T39's and four DR200's and it was simply incredible.

Thinking about markets, there might just be some loving wives who would purchase something like this for their other halves because a) it fits into their room aesthetic and b) their husbands would love it!

A craft fair might be a good place to target.

Again Scott, stunning work - not only is it a beautiful piece (aside from possibly the plate amp in the side) but the form and layout is incredibly clever.
Built:
6xDR200, 2xT39, 2xT48, 2xJack110, 1xOmni10.5, 1xAutotuba, 1xT18, 1xSLA Pro, 1xW8, 1xW10
