I am looking for one more dr280 if anyone has any for sale or might be considering selling i dont care if they are slightly beat up or dirty as long as it sounds great and works.
Also i saw some 250s for sale would those work with my 280s? I have 2 stacks of 2 280s right now. and if i put those on top would that be crazy??

Yes it would be crazy to add DR250's.
The 2 different cab types have differing phase response and differing cabinet response.
It may turn out to be a nightmare.

Get more DR280's...

Built:
2 x DR 250 (melded array) with March 2012 plans.
4 x 20" BP102 T39's, 2 x 28" 3012lf loaded underway.
3 x WH8 with melded array.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...

I figured it would be. Was just hoping it wasn't. how come most speaker companies seem to mix and match fine like danley or Turbosound or f1 they throw single 18s with dual 21s and such and I can't mix and match anything bfm i can't find any dr280s for sale and new will take a long time to build.

Not as much of an issue with direct radiators as with horns that have different length paths.

That makes the assumption that they mix and match 'fine'. That's seldom true. They won't say you shouldn't do so, because that might impact their sales. They're in the business of selling gear, not education.

If you really want a dr280 fast, speakerhardware has for sale the dr280 flat pack, the dr280 deluxe peizo kit, and the duratex paint. Probably a lot faster than searching for a second hand dr280, that could take endless hours searching and forever until you happen across one.

What might be the best amp fit, people are telling me that the gx5 have crappy capacitors. And it is heavier and hotter than most amps i have seen.
I was considering either a PL325, PL236, or a GXD 8. I can get a PL325 for $500 same goes for pl236 but the gxd 8 i have seen for a little more.

The QSC GX5 are class H topology so they're about 15 pounds heavier (per amp) that the usual light touring amps.
https://www.qsc.com/live-sound/products ... eries/gx5/

For the lightest go class D.
Why not standardize and add more Crest 5.0 ... with DSP for added flexibility?
Danley sound labs sells the same Crest 7.5 amp with DSP with EQ filter and delay presets for their cabs built in so that's a pretty good sign.

I was considering a crest 3.0 for tops I guess I could get another 5.0 but that seems to be a little too much power for dr280s. But ye I read that too crest is pretty good no complaints so far.

Are you going to expand to 12x DR280 and 12x T60 - like that impressive BF "kraken system" at Esthetic Evolution festival, under the "crown" theme dome tent stage?

Yes I have a picture of it saved in my phone that's my dream. They only used 6 drs and 12 tubas atleast in what is pictured. That's my plan. Soon I'll have 10 t60s

Great. Probably will need 2 amps for the 6 dr and 3 amps for the 12 t60, 2 cabs per channel.
