Cutting off 10khz< ??

EQ guys are using on their cabs/systems. A good starting place if you don't have your own RTA.

Cutting off 10khz< ??

#1 Post by DJ Higgumz »

Ok so my DR250s sound a bit harsh, and it seems that dropping down all frequencies above 10khz -16db seems to make it sound better, but I'm curious, will it sound like I'm playing lesser quality sound?
Before Fitzmaurice, big bass could only be had with just a hook and a nightcrawler.

EQ to taste. I have a high cut option on my EQ that rolls off everything over 15K. Seems to sound a lot nicer.
As a side note I also bi amp and have the high section on my DRs turned down quite a bit.

What does your RTA reveal?
Harshness from piezo arrays can almost always be traced to clipping in the electronics.

My rta mic is not accurate enough above 5khz to trust but i tend to like a wide q cut at around 10khz (3 db) with a 6db lopass at 18khz

It was clipping in the electronics :slap:

Word is spreading fast about the best club sound system in New England, if not the country:

It is pristine clean to 20kHz at insane levels, and the DR280s are all piezo loaded.
