EQ T-39

EQ guys are using on their cabs/systems. A good starting place if you don't have your own RTA.

EQ T-39

#1 Post by laits »

I cant rta my system until the spring. I would like to get a fairly flat starting eq for my system. 2 ot12 3012ho and 1 to 2 t39 3012lf. I have reverse eq'd the ot12s, but am not sure what to do with the subs. I was going to lower the 125hz by about 3db and maybe raise the 50 or 60hz by about 3db to get it more level. Does this sound like a good plan or am I going about it wrong.
Built 2-OT12 (3012HO); 2-T39 22" (3012LF); 2-T39 16" (3012LF);
2-J12 (DL2512); 2-W8 (Beta 8A)

How about lowering the low pass crossover to 80 hz or so on the titans?

if you have just 1 T39, you're not going to want to eq much at all, as you'll just be sacrificing output by lowering things. 2 T39s and I'd def try a 24 db/oct LR filter around 80 to 90 hz before trying eq at all.

Can I boost 50hz by 5db and 70hz by about 3db and cut 125hz by 5db to get fairly level? I have a hpf set at 45hz, -48db/oct. I am confused as to how eq frequency near the hpf works while still adequately protecting the driver from overexcursion.

50-70 can be boosted without issue, as long as you're not exceeding voltage limits. Excursion is well controlled except for frequencies below the high pass, which is why the HPF is there.

thanks, i will double check my limiter settings with a test tone in that range.

After got my gear set up properly, I remember I was running a 24db slope at 106hz, a 10db cut around 90hz, a 6db cut around 70hz. The rest was one or two db cut/boost.

Same thing with my TT at home, is the slimmest possible and the cuts are heavy on that too. They're actually similar to the t39, except the TT doesn't do it's dip until around 40hz. I mean dip, not cut off frequency, as it stays very strong until 30hz once eq'ed.
