Hello from Upstate NY

#1 Post by Govier966 »

Hi everyone. I am excited to be a member of this forum. I do a decent amount of live sound and DJing and I am looking to get my feet wet in the world of DIY audio. I am planning to make a pair of Wedgehorn 6's and either Tuba 24's or Titan 39's some time soon.

Welcome to the forum.

The T24 and T39 are two different beasts, so it will be worth the effort to fully investigate which one you need.

Welcome to the forum!

Let us know what styles of music you typically play so that you can be properly advised as to which subs would work the best for you.

Welcome. I co-made a pair of W6's as the first speaker build, and they cut through the mix the best of any other monitor I have heard. I am in the process of finishing up a Tube 24 (single 24x24x24). I just put the last side on it, I just need to sand and Duratex. I am building it for my music room, and it will be the low end for (2) 2x6 SLA Pro's. The reason I went with the Tuba in that configuration is so that my son can use the SLA Pros and the T24 for some small gig DJing that he does, while serving the rest of their time as our speaker system for the music room which has electronic drums, keyboard, bass, electric guitar and vocals.

Hi everyone. I didn't see these replies till just now. Sorry bout that.
I play in a rock band and I also do some freelance DJ work. The DJ stuff is mostly pop, rap, top 40 essentially. Nothing SUPER bass heavy. Typically I do events for ~200 people.
The only thing that might make me lean towards tubas is portability but it seems like 1 titan has an output similar to 2 tubas in the higher bass frequencies.
Guitbusy: Those W6's look great. What did you use for the grills?

A small plywood frame with black grill cloth, just held in by friction on the lip you can see in this picture.
