Which Sikaflex Product is the best substitute to Loctite PL Premium

#1 Post by Icecake »

Hi All,
Can anybody tell me which Sikaflex Polyurethane Adhesive is the best alternative to Loctite PL Premium, as Loctite is not available in my country.

Is Sikaflex 11fc my best option from Sika brand?
I have no idea whether it expands during the cure or not.

Thanks for the help.

I would recommend you contact Sikaflex in your country. The product sheets don't mention expansion either.
You need to know it foams and expands to gap fill and hence totally seal any cab build.

So ask them if there is a Sikaflex product that does that..
Built:
DR 250: x 2 melded array, 2x CD horn, March 2012 plans.
T39's: 4 x 20" KL3010LF , 2 x 28" 3012LF.
WH8: x 6 with melded array wired series/parallel.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...

Right Grant, none of the product sheets says anything about expanding.

Just called Sika office and the staffs have already gone home. that's 5 minutes before 5pm.
Will try again next time.

If anybody in the forum have used Sika before, specially the Sikaflex 11FC, pls do chime in too.

I found this picture which someone liked using, and good results.
This is the glue we found (on the picture). It needs moisture to cure, so you have to spray it with water before attaching the part you want to glue on - seems kind of counterintuitive to make something wet in order for it to dry  .

I've used that too, and it works well, but I'd still rather use PL Premium. The big difference is in the texture of the product. PL Premium doesn't run, which makes the gluing up process much easier.
In build order:
O12 with no tweeter.
3 x WedgeHorns.
2 x Jack 10 without tweeters.
2 x DR250.
2 x 16" T39
1 x Tuba 24
2 x SLA Pro (sort of...)
