AutoTuba

#1 Post by NukePooch »

I built a 17.5 inch wide AutoTuba with an Infinity 860w 8" woofer.
Hooked it up to a bargain closeout Sony 330 watt monoblock amp with 4ga cable to the battery.

In my Honda Fit, it floated the rear window wiper and maxed out my cheap SPL meter (130dBC limit). Nothing even remotely scientific, but suffice it to say, it's loud, and it's good.

I couldn't stop grinning over how it sounded.

Another satisfied customer.

I hope you have a fuse somewhere within 16" of the battery. Very, very bad things can happen if you don't. Like the car instantly filling up with toxic smoke blocking your visibility right before it catches fire. Ask me how I know that.

Very impressive!
Built:
17" width 10" driver Autotuba
2 x 29" width dual Lab12 Tuba60
6 x DR250 2510/asd1001
In progress:
2 x DR250 2510/asd1001
For best results, point the loud end of the array towards the audience

Yep, I picked up a NVX wiring kit...had a fuse holder in it...wouldn't have wired anything without fuses. I've got it about 6 inches from the positive terminal.
I've seen what car battery current can do...I've seen broken 4x4 parts welded on the trail with two car batteries in series...
