Not sure if this is the right place for this but is there any SPL comparison done on these two? the jbl is a hard hitter over here and was just wondering

At 1watt/1meter - the T48 will win......but the JBL can take 10 times the power. So, I wouldn't even try to compare the two. At over $6000 per box - that's a whole different world. But, you could build a giant pile of T48s and buy a bunch of amps for the price of one JBL.

Well I guess same goes for the DR 250 or DR 280 vs the JBL VT4889? :fingers: Reason for asking is I have heard the JBLs but have never heard any of the BFMs so I'm kinda building blind lol

The BFM designs are very efficient boxes. They sound good and are the best bang for the buck I've ever seen, but unless you are planning to build a bunch of DR280s or DR300s and a whole herd of subs.....it's really not a fair comparison to compare to boxes with $1000 drivers when you can build two complete BFM boxes for less than that.....not to mention, they weigh half of the JBLs.

You wouldn't compare one T48 to a VT4880, you'd compare two, since the VT4880 is a 2x18 and the T48 is a 1x15. Well, you could compare them one to one if the T48 is a double-wide 2x15. :hyper:
In any event an pair of 1x15 T48 or one 2x15 T48 would bitch slap a 4880, in both sensitivity and maximum output. The 4880 carries an impressive price tag, but 1 watt sensitivity is only 98db, and maximum output at 40Hz is 126dB with 1600 watts. Maximum output of a pair of V coupled 24" 3015LF T48s at 40Hz is 130dB with 900 watts.

I asked the same question a few years ago.

It is that particular, scientific, bitch-slappin' that made me choose the T48 for myself.
